Alkyl Sulfonium\nSalts Enabled Radical Thiocyanohydroxylation\nof Alkenes

Herein, we report a novel and practical strategy for\nalkyl sulfonium\nsalts mediating radical thiocyanohydroxylation of alkenes. This reaction\nfeatures metal-free and mild conditions, generation of noncarbon radicals\nfrom the readily available alkyl sulfonium salts, easy handling, and\nexcellent functional group compatibility. A diverse range of activated\nand unactivated alkenes worked well to deliver various β-thiocyanato\nalcohols.
