Impact of Stagnant Water in the Transmission of Japanese Encephalitis: A Mathematical Model

Culex mosquitoes breed in stagnant water, increase their population, fly to nearby prey areas for their daily nutrition, carry the flavivirus from the reservoir population and bite susceptible humans, generally residents living in close proximity to the said reservoir and logged water. So, there is a high impact of stagnant water on the spread of Japanese encephalitis. In this
paper, a mathematical model is proposed to examine the impact of stagnant water on the spread of Japanese encephalitis. The rate of change in volume of water level is incorporated as a variable looking at the seasonal changes. The growth in the mosquito population is considered to be affected positively by the volume of water. The proposed mathematical model is analyzed in both deterministic and stochastic environments. The global stability behavior of the model is analyzed by the construction of a Lyapunov function. The analytical results are verified by numerical simulation.
