Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Thread Lift in Nasolabial Fold Treatment

Background: Nasolabial folds represent one of the most prominent age-related lines that extend laterally from nose, formed by loosened maxillary ligament and accumulation of nasolabial fat and malar fat pad from upper facial region to nasolabial area. Objective: This study aimed to estimate efficacy and safety of thread lifting treatment of nasolabial folds. Patients and methods: This study was a case series involved 6 cases of both genders who suffered from prominent nasolabial folds. Absorbable barbed PDO threads were inserted subcutaneously using a cannula. Standardized photographs and Nasolabial Fold Scale were used to evaluate outcome at base line immediately following the procedure, one month, three months and six months post procedure. Results: Nasolabial Fold scale was significantly lower immediately after procedure, after 1 month and after 3 months compared to before procedure (P value <0.001, 0.002 and 0.001respectively). While, it was non-significantly different before procedure and after 6 months. Conclusion: Thread lift is an effective, simple with minimal invasive technique for Nasolabial Fold Treatment. Nasolabial Fold scale was significantly lower immediate after procedure, after 1 month and after 3 months compared to before procedure.
