Evaluation of Transcerebellar Diameter and Fetal Kidney Length in Third Trimester as Emerging New Sonographic Parameters for Gestational Age Assessmen
Background: Determining gestational age is essential for the best obstetric care during the third trimester.Aim: With third-trimester singleton pregnancies, when gestational age is known, sonographic gestational age calculation accuracy will be assessed using two newly developed criteria: trans cerebellar diameter and fetal kidney length.Patients and Methods: Using dependable LMP, 79 pregnant women in their third trimester were part of this prospective study at Assiut's Al-Azhar University Hospital's obstetrics and gynecology department. Each woman was administered a thorough medical history, physical examination, and ultrasonography. Results: For the right, left, and mean FKL, respectively, there was an influential positive linear association between FKL and GA (r=0.834, 0.825, and 0.851, p<0.001). The association between FKL and TCD and BPD, HC, AC, and FL was substantial and statistically significant. TCD, GA (r=0.907, p<0.001), and other fetal parameters demonstrated a highly significant positive connection. We used linear regression analysis with TCD, FKL, and a combination of the two to estimate GA.Conclusion: An accurate way to estimate gestational age is by measuring the fetal kidney length and the trans cerebellar diameter. LMP and other fetal biometric measurements discovered a substantial positive linear connection between each parameter and gestational age.
