The International Standard ISO 15489-1, Second Edition 2016 for Records Management: Translation, Critique, and Analysis [Part Two: The Critical Analytical Study]
This article deals with some analytical and critical points of the international standard ISO 15489 -1 '2nd edition, in its two parts: 1 - Information and Documentation - Records Management 2016. 2- Information and documentation - appraisal for records management/ technical report 2018. The criticism included: the extent of the comprehensiveness of the standard, the complementarity between its two parts, and the relationship with other standards, in addition to applicability. As for the analysis, it was divided into two sections: The first: deals with "business classification schemes" and the associated business understanding, context analysis, and Functional and sequential analysis, with reference to the tools used in their implementation. The section concludes by talking about the importance of identifying business critical areas. Second: discuss "societal expectations of records," where it begins by pointing out the nature of records and the power they derive from this nature, then it moves on to talk about the impact of records on members of society and collective memory, and the section concludes by pointing out the role of archivists in preserving records by changing their professional outlook on the appraisal process itself. .
