The Role of AI in addressing Conflict Dynamics in Literature: A Textual Analysis of Mahfouz’s Cairo Trilogy and Adichie’s Half of a Yellow Sun

This study explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in analyzing conflict within both Arabic and world literature. By employing AI tools such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), sentiment analysis, and machine learning, the research demonstrates how technology can uncover emotional, thematic, and ideological dimensions of conflict in literary texts. Focusing on selected works—including The Cairo Trilogy by Naguib Mahfouz as an example from the Arabic literature and Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie from the world literature —the study highlights how AI tools like sentiment analysis and NLP can help facilitate deeper interpretation, cross-cultural comparison, and cultural preservation. It also addresses the ethical considerations and limitations of applying AI to sensitive topics such as war, trauma, and identity. The findings suggest that AI not only enhances literary analysis but also contributes to broader cultural understanding and dialogue around conflict. However, human intelligence must integrate with Artificial Intelligence for better understanding and analysis.
