Contemporary Global and Regional Challenges Influencing Egypt’s Construction Projects in Egypt

The construction industry plays a vital role in the Egyptian economy. The performance of construction projects in Egypt is significantly influenced by emerging global and regional threats. Therefore, many construction projects in Egypt fail to achieve their objectives, mainly due to inadequate initial project risk-contingency estimation. Quantifying and assessing project contingency from the beginning can help decrease actual costs by approximately 15%–25% [1]. This study aims mainly to identify and quantify the global and regional threats that impact projects in Egypt. The evaluation of the causes will be based on specific criteria related to project characteristics, insights from previous research, and field surveys, Pilot survey. By linking quantitative assessment with practical mitigation and compensation strategies, this research advances current knowledge on proactive risk management in emerging markets. Additionally, it seeks to explore solutions to address project potential delays, the necessary compensation resulting from them, and the most appropriate responses to each identified threat.
