A Proposed Secure Video Using Lightweight ChaCha20 based on Chaotic Map

Multimedia content has become a necessary part of our daily lives in many domains, including medical imaging, surveillance, and entertainment. Among all multimedia categories, video is mainly critical because of its high content density and large size. For that, ensuring the security of video has become a necessity for transmission and storage. This paper proposed an enhancement to the Chacha algorithm integration with a hybrid chaotic map for generating keys to secure video. The main motivation for the selection ChaCha algorithm is that it is fast, simple, and appropriate for widespread applications, whereas the motivation for using chaos is to introduce high sensitivity and randomness, which are important for the robust design of keys. For that, the combinations of chaotic key creation with a rearranged state matrix of ChaCha20 provide a new enhancement in security. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, there are three main metrics: quality, security, and randomness analysis. The experimental results showed that Enhanced Chacha (EChaCha) has confirmed the efficiency of the proposed method. The low quality in encrypted frames of video demonstrates a strong distortion, whereas the security analysis indicates a robust resistance to differential attacks, and the randomness analysis demonstrates high randomness and decorrelation in encrypted frames of video. These results demonstrate the efficiency and strong security of the proposed method.
