Tajweed According to Hadith Scholars and Its Relationship to the Science of `Ilal

Scholars’ disagreement regarding the meaning of “Tajweed” and their understanding of this term has a great impact on the occurrence of `Illah (hidden defect of narration)، so it was required to carefully consider this term to have a right understanding of it and get its intended meaning. This research aims to accurately trace and examine the usage of the term “Tajweed” by the hadith scholars، and explain its relationship to the science of `Ilal Al-Hadith. This research is arranged into two treatises، through which I discussed the critics’ terms among hadith scholars، the importance of understanding their expressions، as well as Tajweed according to the hadith scholars and its relationship to the science of `Ilal. I concluded some findings، the most notable of which are: the need to understand the terminology of hadith scholars، the hadith scholars used Tajweed in its many and various expressions، such as: Jawwd - Jayyid - Mujwad - Ajwad، and the preponderant view regarding Tajweed according to the hadith scholars is that it is a neutral term; its explicit meaning may denote “improvement” for the narrator or the narration، and it may suggest a notification that there is a disagreement in the narration، and it is not intended to give preponderance to one narration over another. Among the recommendations of this research is the need to spread awareness among researchers not to take the rulings of scholars in their general terms، especially those implies authentication، such as: good، accepted، and well-authenticated، which has the greatest impact on authenticating the weak narrations.
