Real-World Positive Predictive Value and False Positive Rates of Laboratory-Based HIV Antigen/Antibody Testing by Age and Sex — United States, 2019–2024
Real-world PPV of HIV Ag/Ab testing varies substantially across age and sex groups, suggesting that opt-out routine screening strategy may be less efficient among young adolescents aged 13-14 and persons aged ≥75. CDC recommends HIV testing when clinical suspicion or individual risk is present.
