Therapeutic Paradoxes – A Case Report of Bleomycin-induced Lung Injury
A BSTRACT Bleomycin, a key chemotherapeutic for conditions such as germ cell tumors and Hodgkin’s lymphoma, often carries the risk of life-threatening pulmonary toxicity. In Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the incidence of bleomycin-induced lung injury (BILI) is around 10%, with fatal cases at 4%–5%. BILI typically presents as mild dyspnea with diffuse alveolar damage and nonspecific interstitial pneumonitis. We report a case of a 55-year-old male with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, diabetes, and hypertension, who developed severe BILI after three cycles of the ABVD regimen.
