Synergistic Enhancement of Wear and Corrosion Resistance in ZL107 Microarc Oxidation Coatings via Boron Nitride Interface Adsorption Effects

Cast aluminum alloy (ZL107) has a wide range of applications in the automotive and mechanical engineering industries for the production of components. However, due to the extremely harsh working environment, its overall performance (in terms of high hardness and corrosion resistance) is still significantly lacking. To further improve the overall performance of the ZL107 surface, a microarc oxidation composite film incorporating hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) was deposited to enhance abrasion and corrosion resistance. Thereby effectively enhancing the abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance of the MAO composite membrane layer incorporating h-BN. In this study, the surface morphology, cross-sectional microstructure, and phase composition of the h-BN/hair composite film were characterized and analyzed. The results indicate that h-BN significantly improves the microstructure of the MAO membrane layer, reduces its porosity, and enhances its compactness. When the concentration of h-BN in the electrolyte is 3 g/L, the h-BN/MAO composite membrane layer exhibits optimal performance, with an average friction coefficient of 0.18 and a roughness reduced by over 50% compared to that of the ordinary membrane layer. As the membrane layer's compactness increased, its corrosion resistance also improved (the corrosion current density decreased from 3.72 × 10-8 to 1.92 × 10-8 A/cm2). The microarc oxidation composite membrane layer prepared in this study, which incorporates h-BN, effectively improved the performance of the ZL107 component under extremely harsh conditions.
