Dion–Jacobson Phase Perovskites with Organophosphorus Spacers for Photovoltaic–Detection–Emission Applications

Although two-dimensional (2D) perovskites theoretically exhibit the longest operational lifetimes among perovskite architectures, their practical stability remains limited, probably by the spontaneous deprotonation of amine-cation ligands into volatile amines. Herein, phosphorus-incorporated organic cation template 1,2-bis(dimethylphosphonium)ethane (DMPE2+), which exhibits higher acid dissociation constant and lower deprotonation tendency, was introduced to prepare Dion–Jacobson phase quasi-2D perovskites (DMPE)MAn–1PbnI3n+1. The DMPE-based perovskites possess a lower formation energy and higher thermal stability, suggesting an enhanced structural rigidity. Interestingly, photovoltaic–detection–emission three-in-one function was realized within a monolithic architecture with n = 5 (DMPE)MA4Pb5I16. The device delivered a power conversion efficiency of 10.41% for solar cells, a detectivity of 2.27 × 1012 Jones for photodetectors, and an electroluminescent quantum efficiency of 2.39% for the light-emitting diode. The device retained 85% of initial efficiency after 3000 h of storage in N2. These findings highlight the potential of phosphorus-based quasi-2D perovskites in high-performance, stable, and multifunctional optoelectronic systems.
