Acoustic background noise in photoacoustic tomography

To characterize the limits of detection sensitivity in photoacoustic imaging, we applied ultra-sensitive sensors to measure the “acoustic background” – random pressures arising from thermal vibrations. The results could help guide the design of photoacoustic systems.
