Scientific horizon of valvular procedures in Latin America: a brief bibliometric analysis
Bibliometric analysis of valvular procedures in LatinAmerica is essential for evaluating the current status of this specialty and encouraging its development.Examining scientific production in this field helps identify trends, knowledge gaps and research priority areas, making it easier to formulate relevant questions in the regional context. It also promotes cooperation between cardiology and cardiovascular surgery specialists, institutions and centers, strengthening collaborative networks, with a positive impact on clinical practice and the outcomes of patients undergoing valvular interventions like prosthetic valve replacement, percutaneous valve implantation and annuloplasty. In the academic setting, both cardiologists and surgeons with related training, as well as practicing professionals, benefit from continuing medical education, using bibliometric analysis as a key tool for staying up to date on the most recent advances and best evidence-based practices, contributing to improved quality of care and a consolidated ongoing learning approach 1-3 .
