The energy justice dilemma? Developmentalism, the US military, and the struggle for total liberation
Discussing Festus Boamah's article, ‘Dancing on the head of a needle? “Disciplining” energy justice scholarship’, this commentary takes issue with how it consolidates various and conflicting works under the notion of ‘energy justice’. While noting how the article flattens numerous tensions and political issues surrounding energy poverty and development, this commentary offers a personal story about a highly ranked US military personnel invited me to ‘join the team’ for establishing a critical mineral supply chains across African countries. The story indicates affinity between Boamah's energy justice, US military developmentalism, and national development to enunciate challenges of postdevelopment and the importance of total liberation struggles.
