In lieu of an abstract: This historical juncture is characterized by an intense and dangerous backlash against trans youth across geopolitical spaces, cultural practices, and political discourses. At the same time, the last ten years have witnessed a remarkable proliferation of trans literature for young audiences that crosses genres, experiments with modes, centres trans lived experience, and portrays intersecting identities in innovative ways. Published by University Press of Mississippi, under their prestigious Children’s Literature Association Series, Emily Corbett’s In Transition: Young Adult Literature and Transgender Representation is a much- needed scholarly publication in this context.
