Reliability optimization and test method for rudder system with clearance
The rudder steering system is a vital component of an aircraft; however, failures resulting from kinematic sub-clearances significantly compromise maneuverability as well as the safety of takeoff and landing operations. This study proposes a reliability-focused optimization design for the rudder control system, effectively reducing its failure probability. A multibody dynamics simulation model of the rudder mechanism is developed, alongside an innovative experimental method for clearance evaluation to support system validation.
