Design of a CGM-to-SVG mapping model based on semantic and visual fidelity
To meet the cross-platform compatibility demands associated with graphical information in Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM), this study presents a CGM-to-SVG mapping model grounded in semantic parsing and visual fidelity optimization. The proposed model introduces a three-layer architectural framework consisting of a semantic parser, a visual optimization processor, and a mapping generator, integrated through an intermediate representation (IR)-based conversion process. This structure enables high-precision transformation of CGM metafiles into SVG vector graphics. By implementing a decoupled approach to semantic and visual processing, the model formulates a comprehensive mapping rule system for twelve fundamental graphic primitives. This approach effectively addresses challenges related to the equivalent representation of complex graphical elements while incorporating interactive functionalities such as SVG hotspot activation and dynamic annotation. Experimental validation demonstrates that the converted SVG outputs maintain the original semantic framework of CGM files and significantly improve user interaction within IETM graphical content. The study also identifies current limitations in the model, specifically with respect to compatibility with non-standard extended elements and efficiency constraints when processing large-scale engineering diagrams. Overall, this research offers a methodologically sound and practically applicable solution for graphical processing and vector format transformation in the IETM context.
