Risk analysis method of aircraft debris damage based on CAD models
Bursts of aircraft landing gear tires or failures involving uncontained engine rotors can result in the ejection of debris of various sizes. This debris poses significant risks to critical aircraft components, including wings, horizontal stabilizers, and landing gear, and may lead to severe incidents or accidents under critical conditions. This study focuses specifically on debris generated from uncontained engine rotor failures. A debris failure model is utilized to calculate potential impacts on designated aircraft structures, pipelines, and onboard equipment, as well as to determine the corresponding ranges of debris flight angles. A risk analysis method for assessing aircraft debris damage based on computer-aided design (CAD) models is proposed, significantly reducing the analysis cycle time for debris-related damage. A case study is conducted using a specific aircraft configuration and engine rotor model to demonstrate the application of the proposed methodology.
