Parameter sensitivity analysis within the generalized fracture phase-field framework
The fracture behavior of materials is examined using the phase field method, with a primary focus on the implementation process and sensitivity analysis of critical parameters. A generalized formulation for phase field-based fracture modelling is developed, followed by plate fracture simulations to assess the model's predictive accuracy. The impact of material properties, including Poisson's ratio, Young's modulus, characteristic length scale (CLS), and critical energy release rate (CERR), is investigated through a finite element framework implemented in Abaqus. A sensitivity analysis employing single-parameter variation is conducted to determine the relative influence of each parameter on fracture behavior. The results indicate that Young's modulus and CLS markedly affect the maximum load capacity, fracture displacement, and crack propagation rate, whereas Poisson's ratio and CERR exert comparatively minimal influence. These findings contribute to enhancing the reliability and precision of fracture simulations for material design and failure prediction applications.
