Numerical simulation of leakage and explosion characteristics of large-caliber high-pressure natural gas long-distance pipeline

Due to the complex environmental conditions in mountainous areas and the significant risk of long-distance natural gas pipeline leakage, research on the disaster hazards of natural gas pipeline leakage in mountainous areas is of great significance for emergency management of natural gas pipelines. In this paper, the numerical simulations of natural gas pipeline leakage, fire and explosion processes in typical high-impact areas in mountain areas are used to study the effects of soil, crosswinds, and terrain fluctuations on natural gas leakage, diffusion, combustion, explosion, and hazard characteristics. The results show that: soil and crosswind have a significant effect on natural gas diffusion; jet fire has a significant radiation hazard on the ground when the crosswind speed is large; terrain fluctuations indirectly affect the explosion hazard; the pressure wave generated by the explosion has a larger amplitude and long propagation distance.
