Study on wind-vibration characteristics of distillation column based on fluid-structure coupling
This study presents a numerical simulation of the wind-induced vibration of a distillation column with an approximate height of 80 meters. A fluid-structure interaction model for a high-rise tower subjected to strong wind loads is established to simulate the distribution of wind loads and the corresponding wind-induced vibration response. The characteristics of the flow field near the tower and the fluid-structure coupling behaviour of the structure are systematically analysed. The results indicate that, under strong wind conditions, the windward side of the distillation column experiences positive pressure, referred to as wind pressure, while the leeward side is subjected to negative pressure, known as wind suction. As the tower height increases, both wind pressure and wind suction intensify, resulting in varying degrees of structural vibration and deformation. Furthermore, increases in wind speed and tower height lead to significant changes in the distribution of wind pressure and wind velocity in the vicinity of the tower. The analysis also reveals that the location of maximum stress under wind loading occurs at the junction between the skirt and the main body of the tower, while the maximum deformation is observed at the top of the structure. Variations in vibration frequency and amplitude are examined to inform the design and evaluation of wind resistance and structural reliability for the tower.
