Research on path planning of desert service robot based on optimal energy consumption

This study proposes an energy-efficient path-planning algorithm for service robots operating in desert environments. The algorithm accounts for both rolling resistance and gravitational work encountered during dune traversal in unstructured desert terrain and develops a corresponding motion energy consumption model. By incorporating this energy consumption model into the heuristic function of the traditional A algorithm, the approach facilitates energy-minimizing path planning. A desert simulation environment was implemented in MATLAB to perform comparative analyses with conventional path-planning methods. The results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves the lowest energy consumption, thereby enhancing the robot’s endurance for extended desert missions.
