Adding Your Colour to the World’s Largest Ball of Paint: An Interview with John Green on the Twentieth Anniversary of Looking for Alaska (2005)
In lieu of an abstract: John Green’s voice permeates popular culture. Through YouTube videos, multiple social-media accounts, and countless media interviews, he has positioned himself as one of the most approachable authors of the twenty-first century. As part of this work, Green has also spent much of his career engaging with Nerdfighteria, an online community of his fans that, as Jennifer Burek Pierce writes, “turn[s] cyberspace into a real place of connection around stories, regardless of platform or medium” (2). In so doing, he has led the way in radically reshaping the relationship between young adult (YA) authors and their readership (Gouck).
