The synergy effect of digitization and servitization on enterprise resilience: a fuzzy-sets QCA approach

Purpose Based on the supply chain operation reference model, service-oriented logic and resource orchestration theory (ROT), this study explores the synergy impact of digitization and servitization on enterprise resilience. Design/methodology/approach We use fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) methods to analyze survey data from 329 Chinese manufacturing enterprises, the results show that the various sub-dimensions of digitization and servitization are interrelated. Findings High levels of digitization in manufacturing, delivery and returns processes are the core conditions shared by high enterprise resilience configuration. Conversely, low levels of digitization in planning processes, basic services and advanced services are shared core conditions for configurations of low enterprise resilience. This study reveals the impact of the synergy effect of digitization and servitization of different dimensions on enterprise resilience. Originality/value By elucidating the complex interdependence between the various dimensions of digitization and servitization, this study contributes to the relevant literature and provides management insights for manufacturing enterprises to enhance their resilience.
