Integrative characterization and putative metabolic pathway prediction of PHA production in Streptomyces cavourensis BG2AG isolated from Chilika Lake
This study explores PHA biosynthesis potential of Streptomyces cavourensis BG2AG, a strain isolated from shore line soil sample of Chilika Lake. The PHA production from the strain BG2AG was checked by examining its ability to produce a PHA film after extraction. Structural, thermal, and morphological characterization of the extracted PHA film was performed using FTIR, SEM, XRD, and TGA analysis. FTIR spectra confirmed the presence of characteristic ester bonds, while SEM imaging revealed a heterogeneous polymer matrix. XRD patterns suggested a semi-crystalline nature, and TGA indicated high thermal stability with a degradation temperature of 403.59 °C. This study also highlights Streptomyces cavourensis BG2AG key annotated genes responsible for PHA biosynthesis using KEGG database. This makes BG2AG as a promising candidate for sustainable PHA production and demonstrates the potential for optimizing its yield through bioprocess engineering. • Streptomyces cavourensis BG2AG shows strong potential for PHA biosynthesis. • PHA film was extracted and structurally characterized from BG2AG isolate. • FTIR, SEM, XRD, and TGA confirmed ester bonds, morphology, and thermal stability. • XRD revealed a semi-crystalline nature; TGA showed a 403.59 °C degradation point. • KEGG-based gene annotation confirmed key enzymes for PHA biosynthesis in BG2AG
