The impact of adverse childhood experiences and social support on psychological abuse of elderly females in rural areas of China: a cross-sectional study
This research demonstrated that adverse childhood experiences and social support were significantly associated with the severity of psychological abuse among elderly females. Elderly females who had experienced three or more types of adverse childhood events exhibited higher levels of psychological abuse. Future research should focus on developing targeted interventions based on identified relevant factors to improve the mental well-being of elderly females, and enhance their quality of life in later years.
