A Workflow-Driven Multisensor Scanning System for In Situ Extensive Hyperspectral Chemical Imaging of Paintings

This work introduces a novel workflow-driven multisensor scanning system for comprehensive hyperspectral chemical imaging of painted surfaces, employed in situ. Integrating X-ray fluorescence, UV-induced fluorescence, and FT-IR spectroscopy, the system provides detailed insight into both elemental and molecular composition. A remotely controlled three-axis scanner, equipped with a laser sensor, ensures precise positioning and consistent working distances. This setup, coupled with dedicated software, enables the accurate alignment of hyperspectral and visible images, facilitating a more comprehensive analysis of artworks. The system was tested on a sketch of a Venetian lady attributed to Giacomo Favretto (1849-1887).
