President’s Message

Dear Members, Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry, It is a deep honor and privilege to assume the office of President of our Association. I begin this term with deep gratitude and great optimism for the year ahead. Our recent 29th National conference in Mangalore was an outstanding success – bringing together researchers, students, policymakers, and practitioners in a spirit of collaboration and innovation. The quality of scientific presentations and community-oriented discussions reaffirmed our Association’s growing impact. Over recent years, our Journal – Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry (JIAPHD) and our members have showcased high-quality research, innovative community programs, and thoughtful policy discussions that together strengthen oral health at the population level. As President, my first priority will be to build on that momentum – supporting rigorous research, translating evidence into action, and expanding the reach of our outreach and advocacy. My core goals for the year ahead are simple and interlinked: Elevate research and publication quality: We will encourage methodological rigor, open data where appropriate, and mentorship for young researchers so that JIAPHD continues to grow as a trusted, high-impact forum for public health dentistry Bridge academia and community: Research must inform practice. We will scale proven community oral health programs, strengthen school and workplace oral health initiatives, and form partnerships with local governments and nongovernmental organizations to improve access for vulnerable population Capacity building and education: Continued professional development, workshops on modern public health methods, and stronger student engagement will be prioritized; hence, the next generation is well prepared for leadership in community oral health Policy advocacy: We will speak with one voice on issues such as preventive oral health, integration of oral and general health policy, tobacco cessation, and equitable financing of oral health care – ensuring our evidence reaches policymakers Foster inclusivity and collaboration: IAPHD succeeds when all voices are heard – regional societies, students, private practitioners, public health officials, and allied professionals. Expect transparent governance, frequent communication, and opportunities to collaborate across disciplines. I invite every member to join hands: submit your best work to the Journal, volunteer for outreach drives, mentor a student, or propose a local program that can be scaled nationally. Together, we will translate scholarship into better smiles and healthier communities across India. Thank you for your trust. I look forward to serving you and advancing our collective mission. Warm regards,
