Enconding qubits in valleytronic states in chiral lattices
Valleytronic states hold significant promise for developing robust qubits, owing to the large separation of valley states in momentum space that suppresses intervalley scattering. While many works have been dedicated to manipulating valleytronic states in solid systems, a valley-based quantum code remains largely unexplored for a digital quantum processor. Here, we introduce a quantum code framework for the generation and manipulation of valleytronic states in a chiral cluster of qubits. The valleytronic polarization can be manipulated through a synthesized electric field which induces the valley Hall effect. The valleytronic quantum information can be accessed through adiabatic control of qubit couplings, enabling readout and valleytronic two-qubit gate. The valleytronic qubit exhibits long time coherence, since the coding space forms a decoherence-free subspace against physical qubit decay. Our protocols establish a framework for processing valleytronic quantum information with robustness and feasibility.
