Stevenson in Denver in 1880: A Note for the RLS Biography
Abstract: An unexpected document has emerged showing that on his return journey from California to Scotland in the summer of 1880, Robert Louis Stevenson made a brief stopover in Denver, Colorado, to obtain medical help. (His physician uncle, Dr George William Balfour, had recommended Colorado as a tuberculosis haven.) This is the only record of any activity by Stevenson on that weeklong trip east by rail with his newly acquired family.
