Wide-Angle Metalens for Enhanced Imaging Capabilities
In an era of emerging technologies like demonstrations of augmented reality (AR) overlay virtual objects and digital data onto the real environment, fusing the real and digital world seamlessly. This is where a wide field-of-view (FOV) optics comes in handy, as it broadens the user's field of vision and makes it possible for them to see more immersive and the contextually rich augmented environment at once. In this regard, enduring work for realization of the ultra-compact light weighted optical systems is the primary motivation behind the recent explosion of research in the field of optical metalenses. However, wide FOV metalens for imaging of very large objects at close range are of particular interest due to their critical designing. Recently, quadratic metalens gives intriguing opportunities for expanding the FOV of imaging systems. With the use of these metalenses, optical aberrations may be corrected, and light can be focused more effectively across a larger region, leading to an enlarged FOV that was previously difficult to achieve with traditional design approaches. Here in this proposed work, we have demonstrated that a dielectric metasurface-based highly efficient WFOV quadratic metalens is especially beneficial in applications such as cameras, microscopes, and augmented reality devices. Gallium phosphide-based nano-resonating antennas over the silicon dioxide substrate are utilized for the imparting of desired quadratic phase profile. Thus, this design approach plays a pivotal role in the development of optical systems and has the likely to absolutely renovate the industries from astronomy and healthcare.
