Suprasellar calcified craniopharyngioma: A rare cause of blurred vision in a child
Visual disturbances are a frequent complaint in children during routine clinical evaluations. While these symptoms are often attributed to ocular conditions, it is essential to conduct a comprehensive assessment to rule out intracranial causes. Craniopharyngioma, a rare benign epithelial tumor originating from the suprasellar or sellar region, accounts for approximately 15% of intracranial tumors in the pediatric population. We present a case of craniopharyngioma in a child who presented with headache and visual disturbances, diagnosed through radiological and histopathological investigations. The child underwent limited surgical resection followed by external radiotherapy and has been under regular follow-up for 1 year to monitor for recurrence or treatment-related complications. This case highlights the importance of considering intracranial pathology in children with persistent headache and visual disturbances.
