Dentinogenesis Imperfecta Type I and II: A Case Series Highlighting Clinical and Radiographic Insights
Dentinogenesis imperfecta (DI) is a rare hereditary disorder affecting the dentin structure of both primary and permanent teeth, characterized by discoloration, structural fragility, and distinctive radiographic features. It is classified into three types, with Type I associated with osteogenesis imperfecta and Type II occurring as an isolated dental condition. This case series reports on four patients: two diagnosed with DI Type I and two with DI Type II. Early diagnosis, based on clinical, familial, and radiological evaluation, is critical to guide appropriate preventive and restorative management. This case series emphasizes the need for a multidisciplinary approach in diagnosing and managing DI to preserve function, improve esthetics, and enhance quality of life.
