Synthesis and Investigation of Bonding Scenario in a Bis(silaselenone)

The compounds containing SiSe bond, are rarely reported in the literature. Silaselenones are the class of compounds that possess SiSe bond. Herein, we report a bis(silaselenone) ( 3 ) that contains two SiSe bonds. The compound 3 was characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, mass spectrometry, and NMR spectroscopy. The nature of bonding in compound 3 has been studied by employing natural bond orbital analysis and energy decomposition analysis‐natural orbital for chemical valence (EDA‐NOCV). The bonding analysis by employing EDA‐NOCV method showed that compound 3 possesses two electron sharing covalent sigma bonds between the silicon atoms of silylene and SiPh 2 group.
