A Chromosome-level genome assembly of the black ant Formica fusca
Formica fusca is an ideal model organism for investigating social behaviour and chemical communication in insects. Here, we present the first high-quality chromosome-level genome assembly of F. fusca, generated using PacBio HiFi sequencing and Hi-C scaffolding technologies. The resulting genome assembly spans 535.26 Mb, is anchored to 27 chromosomes, and achieves a scaffold N50 of 20.27 Mb. This assembly comprises 368.74 Mb of repetitive elements and 13,269 protein-coding genes. The chromosome-level genome assembly of F. fusca provides a valuable genomic resource to facilitate studies on insect social organization and the molecular basis of ant social behaviour.
