Ultrasonic Synthesis of Fluorene-Modified Pd/SAC Catalysts for Ultra-Stable Acetylene Hydrochlorination
This study developed a high-performance Pd-based catalyst for acetylene hydrochlorination utilizing fluorene (FLR)-modified carbon support prepared via ultrasonic-assisted impregnation. The Pd-FLR/spherical active carbon (SAC) catalyst showed superior stability and activity, sustaining 99.8% acetylene conversion and >99.0% vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) selectivity for 340 h with negligible loss of performance. This significant enhancement over the unmodified Pd/SAC catalyst is linked to the stabilization of Pd particles, the inhibition of carbonaceous deposits, and the minimization of Pd leaching. Characterization revealed that the FLR modification improves the catalyst’s overall catalytic efficiency by enhancing adsorption properties. The excellent long-term stability and high activity demonstrate that the Pd-FLR/SAC catalyst can be a promising alternative in acetylene hydrochlorination in industrial applications.
