The Family We Make
Abstract: Harris exposes the intentional and systematic isolation built into incarceration—especially the difficulty of maintaining pre-existing familial relationships across so many barriers of communication. She explains the ways families are made and found within prison systems out of necessity because of this isolation, and what social power comes from such realizations.
