Conceptual design of next-generation stealth fighter aircraft having blended wing body shape by using supercritical airfoil

Abstract The development of an aircraft that would surpass the F-22 Raptor was the objective of this speculative concept. A Lockheed Georgia supercritical airfoil was utilized to study its transonic shock properties. A blended wing body aircraft design inspired by the NGAD next-generation fighter underwent computational analysis to examine the drag polar curve and zero lift drag coefficient. Additionally, surfaces were not kept perpendicular to the incoming flow direction to enhance the aircraft’s stealth capabilities by reducing radar detection. Numerical modeling demonstrated improvements in the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft. The findings led to the conclusion that beyond a 15-degree angle of attack, the transonic shock separated from the airfoil. Moreover, the zero-lift angle of attack was determined to be 0.004, significantly superior to conventional fighter aircraft.
