Association of larval and adult stages in the sawfly genus Apethymus (Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae) using mitochondrial COI barcodes
The allantine sawfly genus Apethymus having an unusual biology has been the focus of our surveys in Korea over the past six years. Of the three species known from Korea, larval information had previously been available only for A . kunugi . Herein, we report on the larval and adult associations of two additional Apethymus species, A . kolthoffi and A . sidorenkoi , using cytochrome c oxidase subunit I ( COI ) barcodes matched to adult sequences. We also provide new Korean distributional records for all three species, a new host plant record for A . kolthoffi , and new parasitoid information for A . sidorenkoi .
