Outside Back Cover: Amide and Thioester Synthesis Via Oxidative Coupling of Alcohols with Amines or Thiols Using Alcohol Dehydrogenases (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 1/2026)
The cover shows a chameleon symbolizing the ability of alcohol dehydrogenases (ADHs) to perform different reactions under changing conditions. As a chameleon shifts color with its environment, ADHs alter their catalytic activity. The enzyme is depicted forming an aldehyde, amide, or thioester. In the Research Article (e202515469), Francesco G. Mutti and co-workers show that some ADHs catalyze oxidative coupling of primary alcohols with amines, H2S, or thiols, enabling efficient synthesis of diverse amides, thioacids and thioesters.
