The Impact of Mindfulness Interventions upon Visual Attention and Attentional Bias Towards Food Cues: A Systematic Review
Overall findings suggest that mindfulness-based practices hold preliminary but promising potential to subdue attentional biases to HED food and disrupt unhealthy eating habits influenced by the Western diet. However, the limited number of studies, small sample sizes, methodological heterogeneity, and lack of mechanistic clarity indicate that such conclusions should be interpreted with caution. More robust and standardised research is warranted to determine whether mindfulness can produce durable, real-world behavioural change.
