Multiboson splashes at future colliders from electroweak compositeness
We propose a new collider signature for the composite origin of the electroweak symmetry breaking of the standard model. The Higgs sector consists of new fundamental fermions (hyperquarks), which confine at a hadronization scale <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <a:mrow> <a:msub> <a:mrow> <a:mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</a:mi> </a:mrow> <a:mrow> <a:mi>HC</a:mi> </a:mrow> </a:msub> <a:mo>∼</a:mo> <a:mi>few</a:mi> <a:mtext> </a:mtext> </a:mrow> </a:math> TeV. At energies above <d:math xmlns:d="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <d:msub> <d:mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</d:mi> <d:mrow> <d:mi>HC</d:mi> </d:mrow> </d:msub> </d:math> , the Drell-Yan production of the hyperquarks leads to the production of a few electroweak bosons, in analogy with hadron production in QCD at <g:math xmlns:g="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <g:msup> <g:mi>e</g:mi> <g:mo>+</g:mo> </g:msup> <g:msup> <g:mi>e</g:mi> <g:mo>−</g:mo> </g:msup> <g:mo stretchy="false">→</g:mo> <g:mi>q</g:mi> <g:mover accent="true"> <g:mi>q</g:mi> <g:mo stretchy="false">¯</g:mo> </g:mover> </g:math> around a few GeV. We show that this regime can be probed at future colliders, namely the proposed 100 TeV hadron collider (FCC-hh) and a 10 TeV muon collider. Together with the direct discovery of electroweak resonances, the multi-electroweak boson signature provides a smoking gun for Higgs compositeness.
