The first coupled-channel determination of two-body <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <a:mi>D</a:mi> </a:math> and <c:math xmlns:c="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <c:msup> <c:mi>D</c:mi> <c:mo>*</c:mo> </c:msup> </c:math> scattering amplitudes in isospin-1 from lattice quantum chromodynamics (QCD) is presented. Using three lattice volumes at <e:math xmlns:e="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <e:msub> <e:mi>m</e:mi> <e:mi>π</e:mi> </e:msub> <e:mo>≈</e:mo> <e:mn>391</e:mn> <e:mtext> </e:mtext> <e:mtext> </e:mtext> <e:mi>MeV</e:mi> </e:math> , finite-volume energies relevant for the channels of interest are determined. Through the Lüscher formalism, these energies are used to constrain amplitudes of coupled <g:math xmlns:g="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <g:msup> <g:mi>J</g:mi> <g:mi>P</g:mi> </g:msup> <g:mo>=</g:mo> <g:msup> <g:mn>0</g:mn> <g:mo>+</g:mo> </g:msup> <g:mtext> </g:mtext> <g:mtext> </g:mtext> <g:mi>D</g:mi> <g:mi>D</g:mi> <g:mo>−</g:mo> <g:msup> <g:mi>D</g:mi> <g:mo>*</g:mo> </g:msup> <g:msup> <g:mi>D</g:mi> <g:mo>*</g:mo> </g:msup> </g:math> , <i:math xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <i:mrow> <i:msup> <i:mrow> <i:mi>J</i:mi> </i:mrow> <i:mrow> <i:mi>P</i:mi> </i:mrow> </i:msup> <i:mo>=</i:mo> <i:msup> <i:mrow> <i:mn>1</i:mn> </i:mrow> <i:mrow> <i:mo>+</i:mo> </i:mrow> </i:msup> <i:mtext> </i:mtext> <i:mtext> </i:mtext> <i:mi>D</i:mi> <i:msup> <i:mrow> <i:mi>D</i:mi> </i:mrow> <i:mrow> <i:mo>*</i:mo> </i:mrow> </i:msup> <i:mo>−</i:mo> <i:msup> <i:mrow> <i:mi>D</i:mi> </i:mrow> <i:mrow> <i:mo>*</i:mo> </i:mrow> </i:msup> <i:msup> <i:mrow> <i:mi>D</i:mi> </i:mrow> <i:mrow> <i:mo>*</i:mo> </i:mrow> </i:msup> </i:mrow> </i:math> , and <k:math xmlns:k="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <k:msup> <k:mi>J</k:mi> <k:mi>P</k:mi> </k:msup> <k:mo>=</k:mo> <k:msup> <k:mn>2</k:mn> <k:mo>+</k:mo> </k:msup> <k:mtext> </k:mtext> <k:mtext> </k:mtext> <k:mi>D</k:mi> <k:mi>D</k:mi> <k:mo>−</k:mo> <k:mi>D</k:mi> <k:msup> <k:mi>D</k:mi> <k:mo>*</k:mo> </k:msup> <k:mo>−</k:mo> <k:msup> <k:mi>D</k:mi> <k:mo>*</k:mo> </k:msup> <k:msup> <k:mi>D</k:mi> <k:mo>*</k:mo> </k:msup> </k:math> scattering. All channels feature weakly repulsive interactions in the <m:math xmlns:m="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <m:mi>S</m:mi> </m:math> -wave, except for a weak <o:math xmlns:o="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <o:msup> <o:mi>D</o:mi> <o:mo>*</o:mo> </o:msup> <o:msup> <o:mi>D</o:mi> <o:mo>*</o:mo> </o:msup> </o:math> attraction in <q:math xmlns:q="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <q:msup> <q:mi>J</q:mi> <q:mi>P</q:mi> </q:msup> <q:mo>=</q:mo> <q:msup> <q:mn>0</q:mn> <q:mo>+</q:mo> </q:msup> </q:math> . No amplitude singularities corresponding to physical states are found.
