De criminologie van de internationale misdrijven
Criminology of atrocity crimes – recent developments Twenty years ago, criminology was in a state of denial when it comes to atrocity crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. This inter- and multidisciplinary field has however developed into a full-fledged, well-known and extremely topical subdiscipline of criminology. This overview article focuses on the most recent publications and developments in this field. We argue that the field currently fruitfully interacts with other areas of criminology, engages with related legal yet undesirable social phenomenon such as war and is diversifying its methodological approaches. These new developments coexist next to the continued attention to traditionally important themes, such as perpetrators, victims, and criminal justice responses.
