The Effect of Relaxation and Breathing Exercises and Cyriax Mobilization on Stress Management in Females with Leukorrhea: An Experimental Study
Abstract Background: Leukorrhea is a common gynecological condition characterized by abnormal vaginal discharge, often linked to infections, hormonal imbalances, and stress. This study examines the effectiveness of relaxation and breathing exercises and Cyriax mobilization in managing stress and alleviating symptoms in women with leucorrhea. Objective: To evaluate the effect of relaxation and breathing exercises and Cyriax mobilization on stress management in females with leucorrhea. Methods: A pre–post experimental study was conducted with 30 female participants (aged 17–35 years) experiencing abnormal vaginal discharge. Participants underwent a structured intervention of relaxation and breathing exercises, including box breathing, diaphragmatic breathing, and alternate nostril breathing, along with Cyriax mobilization. The effectiveness of the intervention was assessed using the Cohen Perceived Stress Scale (CPSS) and the visual analog scale (VAS). A paired t -test was employed for statistical analysis. Results: A significant reduction in stress levels was observed. The mean pretest CPSS score was 22.5 ± 3.4, which decreased to 16.3 ± 2.9 post-intervention ( P < 0.001). Similarly, the mean pretest VAS score of 5.0 ± 1.5 decreased to 3.0 ± 1.1 post-intervention ( P < 0.001). Conclusion: Relaxation and breathing exercises combined with Cyriax mobilization effectively reduce stress levels and alleviate symptoms of leucorrhea. This nonpharmacological intervention could serve as a complementary therapy for stress-induced gynecological conditions.
