Influence of of in ovo injection with different levels of biotin (vitamin B7) hatchability traits, embryonic mortality, and quality of broiler chicks
This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of in ovo injection with different levels of biotin (Vit. B7) in incubated eggs of broiler breeder chickens and the time of injection on hatching performance, embryonic mortality rates and chick quality. A total number of 1200 fertile eggs (Ross 308) were used in this study . Eggs were divided into two main groups (each of 600 eggs), the 1st main group was treated (just before placing in the hatchery) and the 2nd was treated in the 18th day of incubation period. Each main group was divided into 6 sub-groups (each of 100 eggs), the 1st, 2nd, 3rd groups were considered as controls [drilled eggs, eggs injected with distilled water (0.5ml) and untreated eggs, respectively]. While those of the 4th, 5th and 6th groups were (injected with 75, 100 and 125μg biotin levels, respectively). The obtained results showed that the hatchability percentages of eggs injected at 18 day showed higher (up to 87.65% with 125 μg biotin level ) than those injected on day 0 (maximum 83.59%). The groups that received biotin had the greatest chick quality indices, especially at dosages of 100 and 125 μg . Overall, the results show that in ovo injection of biotin can significantly increase hatchability performance, improve chick quality, and decrease embryonic mortality losses. The possible use of biotin supplementation in hatchery management techniques to maximize chick survivability and post-hatch performance is supported by these findings.
