Maternity Nursing Students Awareness and Opinion toward Application of Artificial Intelligence in Nursing

Background: The rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has generated excitement and concern in both health care and higher education. AI has the potential to transform the way that nurses provide individualized evidence-based care that aligns with patients’ needs and priorities. Artificial intelligence can help maternity nursing students to improve their awareness and opinion toward digital health literacy. Aim of the study: The current study aimed to assess the relationship between awareness &opinion of Maternity nursing students toward the application of artificial intelligence in nursing. Design: A descriptive correlational design was used. Setting: The study was conducted at Technical Institute of Nursing at El Demerdash which affiliated to Faculty of Nursing, Ain Shams University. Subjects: The study subjects seven hundred and sixty (760) of maternity nursing students. Tools: Two tools were used namely as Tool (I): Self-administered Structured Questionnaire, Tool (II): Students' awareness &Opinion regarding Application of Artificial Intelligence in nursing field Questionnaire. Results: nearly half of the maternity nursing students had low level of total awareness regarding application of AI. Moreover, less than two thirds of the maternity nursing students had positive opinion regarding application of AI in nursing field. Conclusion: there was highly statistically significant positive correlation between the total Opinions of studied maternity nursing students and their total awareness. Recommendations: Conduct continuous and regular in-service educational programs about the influence of AI on nursing. Further research is recommended as studying the long-term knowledge and attitudes of students toward AI after academic graduation.
