قياس الاستدامة الحضرية في مصر: إطار مؤشرات قائم على تحليل الأولويات Measuring Urban Sustainability in Egypt: A Priority-Based Indicator Framework
Egyptian cities are facing significant challenges from population growth and climate change. This research aims to identify the most crucial urban sustainability indicators within the Egyptian context. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, including a theoretical analysis and a field survey. The survey targeted academics, planners, residents, government officials, and investors in three distinct cities: Alexandria, Cairo, and Qena. The results show that the highest-priority indicators are: increasing green spaces, providing a healthy and safe environment, preserving heritage, transitioning to renewable energy, and promoting social justice. These findings underscore the strong link between environmental and social dimensions and highlight the need for integrated urban policies that are adapted to local realities. The study recommends developing a flexible national framework for urban sustainability. This framework should be grounded in locally prioritized indicators and supported by smart urban monitoring systems to track progress and ensure alignment with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
